Road Trip and then the Doctors

I will post more, better pictures soon, I promise! These are from my stinky phone.

Last week, we found out that my Grandpa Wilson had a heart attack. It was very fortunate that he was already at the doctor's office when it hit, or he wouldn't be here right now. They called it a Widow-maker, but he pulled through and is still as ornery and funny as ever :) Mom called me last Thursday and invited Pooka and I to travel the 10 hrs with her up to Rexburg, ID to see Gramps and make sure everything was ok. I agreed immediately, and after much waffling (I had a horrible tummy bug) and much gnashing of teeth (Amber :P) Megen, Amber, Mom, Pooka and I squeezed our rather large bottoms into a nissan 4-door truck. It was actually a really nice truck, if you weren't crammed up next to a carseat. Poor Mom got the worst of it though. For a lot of the ride there and back she was in the smallest part of the truck. I know, because my right bum cheek fell asleep almost instantly every time I sat there.

Ivy "driving" at a rest stop. She always insists on wearing a belt.

Anyhoo, thanks to me and my waffling and crying, we ended up getting on the road at 11am, three hours late. We made it there at midnight. And how long did Ivy sleep? 40 min. The entire time. It was a nightmare. When we got there, Ivy was super pumped about giving Papa Wilson a bandaid for his owie (she had picked out a special Mermaid one just for the occasion) and it was 3am before she fell asleep. We tried everything to get her to sleep, and I must admit I lost my cool a few times, but if finally happened. You can bet that she was asleep the next day in a crib by noon.

Her meager nap

But my goodness, after she had a good 4 hr nap, she was good as gold. I have never seen her run and dig and smile so much. My Grandparents live on about a half acre of land, and they have more land fenced off behind them where they let their neighbor's horses graze. Ivy was just in heaven when we were able to pull some carrots out of the garden and feed them to the horsies. She is just so out-doorsie, it makes me sad we live in Vegas. I know if we lived somewhere like Rexburg, she would be outside all the time. Its funny, but even though I only lived there for the first year of my life, I have always thought of Idaho as my home and I can't wait until we can finally move there. We are both slow-life kind of people. Someday.

Digging in the dirt at Grandma Wilson's

When we got home, after a much more merciful trip - Mom actually bought a portable dvd player for the Pooks - I was so sad when Ivy asked if we could go see Papa Wilson and his bandaid and play in the garden. Then she answered her own question and said "yeah, garden is far far away." She was so sad! It just broke my heart. But we may be changing our graduation plans and going up after the holidays instead of going to Disneyland. We'll see.

On the ride home, what else could occur except my developing some strange infection and pink eye, all in one! I had been really run down for a couple of weeks, and everyone (including me) thought I was pregnant, but not so! When I went to the doctor for my pink eye, I was rubbing my sore neck right at my ears, and noticed a big painful swollen lump in front of my right ear, which did turn out to be an infected lymph node. I have felt like I was hit by a truck since we got back. And to make it worse, I am almost completely quarantined to the house because of my stupid eyes. If it wasn't for Matthew, I'm sure our apartment would be covered with a thin layer of mold by now. We'll see how long it takes for all this to clear up. Hopefully sooner than later.

Post summary: Idaho good. Pink Eye/unknown infection bad. Heart attack VERY bad.

To think you were so close to me here in Nampa, yet so far. I vote that you coe to Rexburg instead of Disneyland and come visit us at the same time. HEE HEE HEE. So9 sorry about the pink-eye and the quarantine. That must be rough, but at least you have the Olympics to watch. It could be worse.

Yeah for good trips! I'm glad Ivy got to play outside. Sorry about your crazy infection! Hope that clears up soon.
