4 Years

Its crazy to say, but I have been married for 4 years!!!

Yes, it is a picture of a picture!

As I hardly ever go the gushy mushy route, today I reserve the right to say how seriously awesome my husband is!

He does the dishes (almost) every night.
He takes out the trash
Washes and folds laundry
ISN'T obsessed with sports
vacuums more than I do
works crazily hard
and generally treats me like a QUEEN!

More than that, he is an amazing father, and my very best friend.

AND HE'S HOT TOO!!!

Happy Anniversary, Love!

The Hunt

Er. Maybe just the anticipation of the hunt.

I never thought these words would be said, at least not so soon, but Matthew and I are saving - yes SAVING (audible gasps everywhere) for a house!

Even with his cut in hours, we have been able to create what we officially call Pooka's Back Yard Fund. The problem is, we have become OBSESSED. Thanks to the tanking economy, this is finally an option for us. Just the prospect of setting down roots and having a place of our own is exciting and wonderful but really terrifying. Yes, we would get to do whatever we wanted with it. We can make it our own in every way. But we also have to fix anything that breaks. As my Mother said, "Ahhh, my little girl is afraid of committment!"

And I am. Kind of.

At least I'm not going into it blind. I realize how much work a house is, especially if we want to get one that's cheaper. I am definitely not afraid of the work involved, just the price tag.

But then there is Pooka to think about. We definitely can't have her someplace that isn't livable. But what is livable? Oye.

So what do we do? Do we buy a cheaper house that we need to put a chunk of money into to fix it up, or do we go for a house that doesn't need so much work, but has a higher price? I NEED advise!

Very Important Questions

Whose grand idea was it to allow Ivy to kiss and hug a sick auntie? Who shrugged it off and said, "if she gets sick, she gets sick?"

Who is paying for it at the wonderfully vibrant hour of 3 am?

How can I be so stupid?

The death of a...

...hard drive. Oye, what a pain. Ours had its last few days of life this week and then on Friday decided that its time with us was over. Luckily my brother Patrick is a computer genius (I'm so not exaggerating) and we called him this morning pleading for help. Over the phone he diagnosed the problem and we bought the new hard drive this morning. Matthew's all sorts of computer savvy now, so he installed the new one and we set about installing everything we lost. I'm really counting on Patrick to get all our pictures off the old drive, but it was REALLY messed up, so we might lose everything. But its nice that he's trying. Its so wonderful to have crazily intelligent family members. They make my life easier and my bank account happier :)

I think...

I think I have decided to NOT get the shots. I have been doing some research, and what the docs didn't tell me was I would have to continue getting maintenance shots for years. No thanks! I'll pop the pills! I felt like such an old lady buying my weekly pill sorter, but I have it now. As long as its a once a day thing, I think I'll be ok.

I LOVE BEING ABLE TO BREATHE! (yes, it is a new thing for me!)

I'm allergic to Life

So I went to the doctor on Monday for yet another sinus infection. "But Becca," you say, "didn't you have that crazily expensive surgery about a year ago that was supposed to fix that?"

Sure did.

Didn't work.

At least now my bones are straight. Ugh.

On Wednesday, I went to an allergist. His diagnosis: I'm allergic to everything. EVERYTHING. That's why I've had 4 or 5 sinus infections a year since birth.

I'm amazed I made it this far in life without a nice sharp pen in my bag. They did a scratch test of like 60 things on my back and only 8 came up negative.

My options: take 3 medications every day for the rest of my life, or go to the clinic every week for 2-8 months and get 10-18 shots in my arms each time. Peachy fun, huh?

Its called immunotherapy. I'm really familiar with the immune system, so I get how it works, but the problem is it doesn't work for everyone.

I really don't know what I should do. What would you folk do?

My Princess Pooka

Just because its been ages. I figure at least every other post should be Pooka related...and because she IS my Princess Pooka!

Pooka has decided that she can only cook when she's wearing her heals. She definitely didn't get that from her Mama!

She LOVES her Daddy

The fairest in the land. :)
