When it rains, it pours.
Lily needs to stop punching me in the middle of the night.
Ivy needs to learn to sleep until 7:30 again.
The dog doesn't like me.
I'm not so sure I want to carry a gun at work. Or deal with dead people.
I wish I had sent Grandma Morris that picture of Ivy she'd asked for... at least she can hang out with Lily for a little while.

Chivalry IS Dead
This morning before coming to work I had to drive to a client's house and pick up a mondo box of documents - such is the life of a legal assistant. I don't mind it. Just a shade more annoying was lugging that box, along with the other mondo box of documents I had to take back to the office, from the car up to my desk on the second floor. Still not such a big deal, until you count getting through the doors, the actual size of the boxes, and the not so small baby in my uterus that vehemently prefers not being squished.
So, like any other lazy/pregnant (not sure which one has more bearing) lady, I went upstairs to get the jankie fold-up handcart used almost exclusively for lugging diet dr. pepper from my mother's car to the Firm kitchen.
I loaded up and headed to the front door of the building, where I was pleased to see two gentlemen right next to the door, one inside, the other just standing on the outside, presumably enjoying the 110 degree weather.
As I struggled to keep the handcart from toppling over (extremely jankie!), prop the door open with my foot, and ram the cart over the lip of the threshold repeatedly with no success, I looked around hopefully at the "gentlemen" around me in misguided hope that one of them would actually care that a pregnant lady needed a little help.
Nope. Nada.
Now, I can understand if maybe the guys didn't really know if I was pregnant or not. To be truthful, I'm a fat pregnant chick, so even though I think my six months have surpassed the "not quite sure, should I say something?" stage into the obvious baby belly, some men may be overly cautious. But its no excuse! What happened to holding the door for a lady??? And yes, I firmly believe the fact that I have different reproductive organs makes me special. And so should every other gal in this world! I realize I am very capable of opening my own door. Its a feat I tackle and accomplish on a daily basis. But if a guy is around - especially if a girl needs help - he should open the door for her.
What happened to all the REAL men?
(this most assuredly does NOT include my hubby - he is a gentleman of the highest caliber. Thanks Gloria!)

I have been absolutely TERRIBLE about posting this, and I apologize! Ivy is super excited to have a new baby sister, and can't wait to meet "Baby Lily" as she calls her. We have no idea what her middle name will be...any suggestions would be great!
Love you guys!

She's a teenager already
Pooka, sitting on the toilet, "reading" a book upside down.
me: Do you need any help, Pooka? Are you finished?
Pooks: No Mom. I need my privacy. Shut the door!
me: ....

Is it just me, or do I have the oldest 3 yr old alive????

Geniune Curiosity
A week or so ago, my sister and I got into a discussion that I haven't been able to get out of my mind. Call it OCD or whatever you'd like - you're probably right.
The discussion was about your duty to your spouse. If your spouse is being a complete idiot, do you have to agree with them in front of the world and then try to get them to see reason in private, or is it ok to disagree with them in public?
Now, I have only been married for a few years, but everything in me says that if your spouse chooses to act inappropriately, you are in no way obligated to go along with it. I'm not saying you should make a big fuss and scornfully denounce them, just not back them up if they ask you to do so. Does that make me a bad wife? I guess I am just one of those, you mess up in public, you apologize in public type of people.
What do you think? (Single folk - I want to hear from you too!)

Potty Party Success!!!

Everyone loves parties. If you're three and you have a party that literally lasts ALL DAY, with balloons and princesses everywhere, you are bound to think you are the luckiest kid alive.
This was Pooka last Friday. From the moment she woke up until she went to sleep that night, she was the guest of honor at her very own princess potty party. Matthew got a ton of books and a couple of videos from the library, we stuffed her full of any and every type of drink she could ever want, and spent the day immersed in bodily functions. Oh the joy!
She, of course, thought it was the greatest thing ever. How often do mommy and daddy let you watch the same two shows (yes, the SAME two shows) all day long? Or drink as much bubble drink as you want? She was seriously in heaven.
Matthew and I, on the other hand, were ready to shoot ourselves by 5:00. I have had the same three lines of a potty song running through my head since Friday. It was so bad that I woke Matthew up last night so he could help me find his ipod, just so I could fall asleep listening to something else. Oye.
But we do what we must. And man, has it been worth it. Pooka has become a master of the potty practically overnight, and whats even better, she is SO proud of herself. That is worth anything.
